Františkovy Lázně lies in western Bohemia, five kilometres north of Cheb.
The town was founded in 1793 and has borne the name of Emperor Francis II since 1803. Since 2021, Františkovy Lázně, together with Karlovy Vary and Mariánské Lázně, has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Komorní hůrka Nature Reserve lies in the southern part of the town. The Tři lilie spa hotel stands in the centre of the spa zone, and its tradition dates back to 1793.
