Františkovy Lázně lies in western Bohemia, 5 km north of Cheb. The town was founded in 1793. It has been named after Emperor Francis II since 1803.
Since 2021, the town has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List alongside Karlovy Vary and Mariánské Lázně. The Komorní hůrka nature reserve lies in the southern part of the town. The Tři lilie spa hotel stands in the centre of the spa quarter, and its tradition dates back to 1793.
