Mother's Day in Gibraltar is celebrated in March, always on a Sunday. The local horticultural society holds a spring flower show. It also holds a Christmas flower show every year.
Gibraltar's national flower is the Gibraltar candytuft. Within Europe, it grows wild only in Gibraltar, where it is found in limestone crevices in the rock. Its flowers range from pale purple to almost white.
