Boskovice lies on the edge of the Drahanská vrchovina. The town is 14 km north of Blansko and 33 km north of Brno.

The historic centre, including the Jewish ghetto, has been an urban conservation area since 1990. Above the town stands a 13th-century castle. The town is also home to a chateau dating from 1819 to 1826 and the Church of St James the Greater, built in 1346.
