Stochov lies between Kladno and Nové Strašecí. The town is south of the D6 motorway.
The first written mention of the town dates to 1324. Stochov was granted town status in 1967. The St Wenceslas's oak grows in Stochov; according to legend, Princess Ludmila planted it.
