Slavičín lies in the Zlín District, about 22 km southeast of Zlín. It stands at an elevation of 380 metres below the White Carpathians.
The first mention of the Slavičín region dates to 1141. A Baroque chateau dating from 1750 stands on a rise in the town centre. Since its renovation in 2019, it has served as a hotel with beer baths.
