Modřice is a town immediately adjacent to Brno. It gained town status on 1 July 1994 and belongs to the Velkopavlovice wine subregion.
The first written mention of Modřice dates from 1141. The Baroque Church of St Gothard, dating from the second half of the 18th century, stands here.
