Doksy lies on the shore of Lake Mácha, beside the I/38 road between Mladá Boleslav and Česká Lípa.
The first written mention of Doksy is in a royal charter written in Písek in 1264. The centre of Doksy is a square with a church, a Marian column, the town hall and burgher houses. The Karel Hynek Mácha Memorial has served as a museum since 1960. Kino Máj is an architecturally significant building designed by Karel Hubáček.
