Česká Třebová lies in the valley basin of the River Třebovka. The local grammar school was founded in 1909 and occupies a historic building. The cultural centre includes the Svět cinema and an exhibition hall.
The first written record of the town dates from 1278. Its landmarks include the Romanesque Rotunda of St Catherine and the Renaissance Old Town Hall, dating from 1547, on the town square. The municipal museum was founded in 1887.
