Flower delivery in Brno
Brno is the Czech Republic's second-largest city by population. It is also the country's second-largest city by area. The rivers Svratka and Svitava flow through the city and meet in its southern part.
Brno is first mentioned in writing in the Chronicle of Cosmas under 1091, and it received town rights in 1243. Špilberk Castle above Brno's historic centre was founded by Přemysl Otakar II in the 13th century; it now houses the Brno City Museum. The Cathedral of St Peter and St Paul on Petrov shapes Brno's distinctive skyline. Designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and built in 1929–1930, Villa Tugendhat has been on the UNESCO list since 2001.
